Continuing With George Eldon Ladd

"Theology, it is increasingly being recognized, is not confined to propositional discourse, but may be equally in narrative form. The result, in Mark's Gospel, is a balanced account of Jesus' mission that in its turn forms the basis of a realistic assessment of what it means to be Jesus' disciple. It is a theology in which rejection and triumph, humiliation and glory, meet in this new scale of values of the Kingdom of God." P. 236

Are you ever reading something and you know that it is a marvelous thought, but you can't quite get your mind around it, and you need to read it over and over again becuase you know that it is well worth your time to do so in order to grasp of fuller picture of reality? This quote from Ladd did that for me. So please, go ahead, read that thought from Ladd again to make sure that you can put a piece of your brain around the writing. It just may change everything for you...

Yo!

Hey man, I am loving the quote. Those terms are very apt at describing theology of Jesus' followers. However, they are such strange juxtapositions. It often seems that so much of Jesus seems contradictory. Ya know what I mean? That is the beauty of the Kingdom - it is all encompassing which to me sometimes lets things seems opposite. Hmmm. Interesting, thanks for keeping me thinking.
